you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful..."
God did indeed wonderfully make us. Each new year usually starts with most of us wanting to make a renewed effort to take better care of the body - the gift - God has given us. Health professionals tell us how important exercise is to our overall health, so we may make a resolution to exercise more. This is all good, but most of us find that within a few weeks, we are back to our old habits. How can we break this cycle? Many find joining a health club or fitness center may be the motivator. Not only will you be trying to get your money's worth but: 1) there will be others exercising along with you, 2) some fitness centers have professional trainers that will help develop a program that meets your needs 3) there are TVs to watch 4) many have various exercise machinery to use. One can also develop one's own exercise program or buy aerobic videos. It is almost always helpful to have a friend or family member to exercise or walk with you. Another idea is to start an aerobic class or a dance class at your church. Whatever your plan, just do it. My dad always said a job is half done once begun. Know that in a few weeks you may find excuses not to follow through. Plan now a reward to keep on keeping on or a method to jumpstart your efforts to have a healthier body. click health, click healthy living, click exercise medicinenet.com click Health & Living, click Exercise & Fittness Deaconess Sharon Teague/Chaplain Office # 513-584-2987 The University Hospital Cincinnati, OH |
