Ovarian Cancer -  the silent killer?

You are probably aware that ovarian cancer has been called the “silent killer”, because notable symptoms occur in the later stages when the cancer is more difficult to treat.   New research, however, has determined early signs and symptoms that bring hope to early detection and better chances for cure.

The most common symptoms are:

  • bloating, abdominal pressure
  • abdominal swelling,  clothes fitting tighter around your waist
  • quickly feeling full, or loss of appetite
  • pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort
  • change of bowel habits
  • trouble eating or feeling full quickly, persistent indigestion, gas or nausea
  • urinary symptoms, such as urgent or frequent feelings of needing to go
  • persistent lack of energy
  • low back pain
These symptoms can be common with many other ailments, but if they are unusual for you, are more than one symptom, occur almost daily and last for more than a few weeks, make an appointment with your doctor.

There are symptoms for our spiritual decline also:

  • Indifference to the Word of God, prayer, worship and praise
  • Compromising one’s spiritual principles to  “fit in” or not “offend” nonbelievers
If these symptoms occur almost daily and last for more than a few weeks, make an appointment with your pastor.  Also read Psalm 42 and 119: 129-136.

Ps 119: 133 “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.”
